The pharyngal stop q (occlusive) occurs in mountaineers'
dialects of Eastern Georgia: Khevsurian, Pshavian, Tushian, Mokhevian,
Mtiul-Gudamaqarian, as well as in the Kiziq'iian subdialect of Kakhetian.
This phoneme is recorded in Old Georgian too. The letter for this phoneme
was removed from the Georgian alphabet by Ilia Ch'avch'avadze in the 19th
century.
