The transcription of the Georgian letter Z is dz. When the sequence dz denotes two different sounds, d and z, a dot is used between them (e. g. in the word "xid.ze" d and z are transcriptions of the two different letters d and z).
'Z' is pronounced almost like English [dz] in 'beds' [bedz].

When pronouncing the consonant 'Z' the tip of the tongue is set against the upper front teeth. The top of the front part of the tongue touches the alveolae.

The letter written or typed in this way is called dzili.

It is traced out with one movement of the hand and is written between the three upper lines: movement of the hand begins at the upper line, goes downwards vertically and ends by drawing a full circle from right to left between the upper and lower middle lines.
